Prologue - Chapter 5

Prologue

Chloe Lane Wesley, looked out the window of her apartment in New York. She had a great view of all the buildings and Julliard. This is what she’s wanted, since she could remember, but why did she feel so depressed?

“This is crazy! I should be happy. I worked two part time jobs to get here. My parents dipped into their retirement fund to help me out. This has been my dream since I was a little girl, and I’m living it! It just doesn’t feel like I thought it would. (Pause) NO! C’mon Chloe, you just got here 2 weeks ago. You need to give it sometime to get to know people, and get settled in. It’ll start to feel like home in no time. Just stop feeling sorry for yourself.” After Chloe gave herself the pep talk she crashed down onto her couch, and sighed.

She was so lonely. She wished her best friend Mimi was there with her, but she wasn’t. She was in France, studying abroad. She missed her parents and her sister, who was just learning to talk and walk. She missed her late night girl talks with her mom and the way her father was always way to protective of her.
She missed Sugar and Honey, her moms dogs and how they would come into her room and jump on her bed to wake her up in the morning. She missed things she never thought she would miss. She missed EVERYTHING! She missed Salem!

Chapter 1

Chloe woke up to the sound of banging on her door. She got up, and realized that she fell asleep on her couch, with her TV on. She sleepily walked to her door and opened it to come face to face with a petite blonde hair girl, who was with a tall brown hair guy.

“Can I help you?”
“Yes. We just wanted to welcome you to the building. I’m Belle Black, and I live just across from you, and this is Shawn Brady, my boyfriend. He lives t doors down from you.”
“Oh hi. I’m Chloe Lane Wesley. (Pause) Are you guys new to New York as well?”
“Yes, but we’ve been here since June. So almost 3 months.”
“Ahh I just got here 2 weeks ago. Come in please.”

Chloe ushered Belle and Shawn into her apartment, and they all sat down on the couch. Then Chloe got up again. Realizing that she was being rude.

“I’m sorry. Do you guys want anything to drink?”
“Just water is fine.” Belle said.
“Nothing for me thanks.”
“Okay. I’ll be right back. Make yourselves at home.”

Chloe then headed off to get the drinks.

It was another 2 hours before Shawn and Belle left. The three of them, hit it off very well. They talked about their lives and why they came to New York.

Belle and Shawn told Chloe that they lived in Boston before moving to New York, to go to Columbia, along with their friend Philip Kiriakis. They decided to come to New York because, Columbia was the only school the three of them got into together, and they didn’t want to have to split up, after 17 years of never being apart.

Chloe told Belle and Shawn that she was from a small town called Salem, and that she came to New York because she got into Julliard, where she is taking classes in Opera.

They all had stuff in common, and for the first time, since Chloe arrived in New York, she felt happy. Like she could handle being away from home.

Chapter 2

It was now 2 weeks later. Chloe, Belle and Shawn have gotten really close, but Chloe still hasn’t met their friend Philip Kiriakis. She was enjoying her clases at Jilliard. She even got a job at a café 3 blocks away from her apartment. That where she was now. At the café, working.

She was getting some coffee when a tall sun kissed blonde haird guy walked in and sat down. Chloe thought he was the best looking guy she had ever seen.

“Chloe? Chloe!” Chloe turned around at the sound of her manager’s voice.
“Yes?”
“Are you going to go take his order, or just stare at him all day?”
“Right. Sorry. I’m on it.”

So Chloe went over to him, coffeepot in hand.

“Hi. Would you like some coffee to start with?”

The young man looked up and almost lost his voice. The girl standing before him was gorgeous.

“Yes please.” He said politely and held her stare. Chloe started to pour his mug. She was to busy looking into his blue eyes to notice that it was overflowing, and that coffee was going everywhere.

It was only when her manager came over and started yelling that the two of them got back into reality.

“Chloe! What do you think you are going? Learn to pay attention!”
“Yes. I’m… I’m sorry. I’ll clean it up.”
“You’d better, and the next time something like happens you’ll be out of here so fast!”
“Hey, don’t yell at her. It was my fault. Really.”
“No, no. It was me. I’ll be back with a cloth.” Chloe said and went off to get a cloth. Her manager also walked away to go serve some more customers coming in.

Chloe quickly came back and started wiping up the mess. When she went to wipe up the mess on the floor. The guy stopped her.

“Leave it.”
“I can’t. I have to clean it up.”
“Then let me help.”
“Oh no. You can’t. It’s okay. I’m almost done. (Pause) See done.” Chloe smiled up at him. He helped her get back up to her feet, and didn’t let her go right away.

“Hi. I’m Philip Kiriakis.”
“Oh! You’re Philip. (Pause) I’m Chloe Wesley. I live across form Belle Black and down the hall from Shawn Brady.”
“Oh. So you’re the Chloe they keep talking about. The one that goes to Julliard.” Chloe blushed and nodded.

“They never said how beautiful you are.” Philip said softly. This made Chloe blush even more and Philip chuckled slightly.

“When do you get off work?”
“4:30.”
“Do you want to go to movie?”
“Um, sure.”
“Great. I’ll pick you up at you place around 6.”
“Okay. My apartment number is 456.”
“Okay. See you then.”
“Bye.”

Chapter 3

Chloe was in her apartment. She was dressed and ready to go. She was just waiting on Philip. He wasn’t late, she was just early getting done. She was wearing a fuschia poly shirred V-neck flutter sleeve dress. (To see dress click the link www.dollhouse.com/Dollhou...esses.jpg)

Her hair was in a bun with chopsticks holding it together. She wore black strappy 4inch wedge heel shoes and her make up was simple with soft peach coloured lipstick with shimmer lip gloss and soft shimmer eye shadow. Her hand bag matched her dress.

She sat on her couch just waiting. She checked her watch again.

~ Philip should be here any minute ~ She thought. Right on cue There was a knock at her door.

Chloe got up and answered it. She almost lost her breath. Philip looked so good.

Philip wore baggy, but not to baggy jeans, with a button down navy blue shirt and a leather jacket. His hair was slicked back, and of course to top off the outfit a pair of very cute, very hot dimples.

“Hi.” Chloe said shyly. After she took him in.
“Hi.” Philip said, as he was still checking her out.

~ d**n she is hot! ~ He thought.

~ He looks so sexy ~ Chloe thought.

“This is for you.” Philip said as he handed her a rose, but not just any rose. This rose was special.

“Oh it’s beautiful. I’ve never seen one like it before.”
“It’s called fire ‘n’ ice.”
“It’s appropriate. Thank you Philip. (Pause) I’m just going to go put it in water.”
“Okay.”
“You can come in.”

They both walked into the apartment and Chloe headed to the kitchen to get a vase to put the rose in. Philip looked around her apartment and noticed her pictures. He walked up to them to look at them.

There was one with a plump redheaded lady with a brown hair man. They were hugging and smiling. Then there was one of Chloe with the couple and Philip assumed that they were her parents. They were all smiling. Chloe sat on a plush chair in front of them and they had their hands on her shoulders. Then there was a couple of pictures of what appeared to be a young Chloe with a girl with dirty blond shoulder length hair. They were in their swimsuits posing for the camera. The next one was on of them around the age of 15 it looked. They were under a tree smiling, and it seemed like they didn’t even notice the camera. The last one of them was of them in their graduation caps and gowns. They both had radiant smiles.

One picture caught Philip’s eye. It was of Chloe in what looked like a prom gown in the arms of another guy in a tux. The guy had dirty blond hair and piercing jade green eyes. They looked very happy. Philip wondered if it was a boyfriend Chloe left behind.

Chloe came in as Philip was looking at the picture.

“That’s me and Jason, as our senior prom.”
“Oh. Is he your boyfriend?”
“No. Just a good friend. We did date for a while, but decided to only be friends.”
“Well that’s cool. (Pause) Should we go then?”
“Yes we should.”

With that Chloe and Philip left. Hopped into Philip’s car and made their way to the theaters.

Chapter 4

Philip and Chloe are now at the Movie Theater. They are standing in line, trying to decide what movie to go and see.

“So Chloe, what are in the mood for?”
“I don’t know. I’ll see whatever.”
“Oh look, the Ring is back in the theaters. Have you seen it?”
“No. I heard it was really scary and I was to afraid to go see it on my own.”
“I heard it was good. Do you want to go see it? I promise I’ll protect you.” Philip joked lightly.
“Sure, why not.”
“Great.”

They were now at the front of the line.

“Hi, can I get 2 tickets to The Ring please?” Philip asked.
“That’ll be $14.00” Philip paid, they got their tickets, and headed into the theater.

“Do you want to get something to eat?”
“I feel bad, that you’re paying for everything. Let me pay for the snacks.”
“Oh no. I’m I guess what you would call an old fashioned guy. I believe that a guy should be the one to pay for the date. I was the one that asked anyway. So please let me pay.”
“Okay.”
“So what would you like?” Philip asked her.
“Um, I guess a root beer and gummy bears please.”
“No problem.”
“Thanks.”
Philip just smiled at her.

“Yes can I please get a medium root beer, a large bag of gummy bears, a medium Pepsi and a large popcorn, extra butter.”
“Sure.” The guy went to get the stuff then came back.
“$16.50.” Philip once again paid and he and Chloe went onto the theater where their movie was playing. They went in and were surprised to find it nearly full. The Ring came and gone a while ago, but came back. They thought that people would’ve seen it, when it first came out.

“Man, it’s packed.” Philip whispered into Chloe’s ear.
“Yeah. I guess it really was/is a good movie.”
“Well, lets find some seats.”

Philip and Chloe finally found seats in the middle of the theater, in a row that only had 2 more couples in it. They sat down.

“So Chloe, we have a little while before the movie starts. Do you want to talk? Get to know each other a little better?”
“Sure.”
“Okay, so Belle and Shawn haven’t really told me much about you, except that you came to New York to go to Juilliard in hopes of getting an opera deal.”
“Yep. My whole life I’ve dreamed about becoming an opera star.”
“Well I’m sure you will be. So where are you from?”
“A small town called Salem.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. I lived with my mom and dad, and I worked 2 jobs to get here. I miss my best friend Mimi and I even miss Jason.”
“Where’s you best friend?”
“France.”
“Oh. Yeah that’s got to suck.”
“It does. I’m so used to talking to her everyday and seeing her everyday, and now I can’t do either. I can barely talk to her now. I really was feeling very homesick and loney, until I met Belle and Shawn. You’re very lucky to have them has best friends.”
“Yeah I am.”

They didn’t have time to ask anything else. The lights went down and the previews began.

Chapter 5 - End of the date

Philip and Chloe are now walking around. The movie is over.

“I had a really nice time tonight Philip.”
“Only nice?”
“Okay I had a great time.”
“Well our time doesn’t have to end.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well we could go for a drive. Maybe go up to look out point.”
“Hmmm, I don’t know. I just met you. Can I trust you?”
“Of course you can! Have Shawn and Belle ever said anything bad about me?”
“Well, there was this one time in…”
“Okay, whatever you say.” Philip laughed.
“No they haven’t said anything bad about you Philip. Actually they’ve basically been singing your praises.”
“Good to know. (Pause) So do you trust me?”
“Yeah, I guess I do. I mean if Shawn and Belle are two of your best friends, I’m sure you’re a very decent guy.”
“Okay, I’ll take that. C’mon lets go.”

Philip took Chloe’s hand and led her to his car. They got in and Philip started off towards lookout point. 30 minutes later they were there.

“Wow this is amazing.” Chloe whispered in awe.
“Yeah it is.”
“You can see the whole city from here. It really is beautiful.”
“You’re beautiful. Oh my god. I can’t believe I just said that. I haven’t said that line to a girl since I was in high school.”
“That’s okay.” Chloe said as she blushed.
“So lets get to know one another huh?”
“Okay.”

“Hmm what to ask. Oh. Do you have any brothers or sisters?”
“I have one little sister. Her name is Joy and she’s almost 1 year old. How about you?”
“Oh please. My family tree seems like it’s fit for a soap opera. (Pause) Lets see. I have 3 half brother. Bo his biological father is my father, Lucas and Austin. From the same mother as I am. They’re all older then me. Then I have 2 half sister. Isabella, she died before I was born and was from the same father as I am and Billie who is from the same mother as me. Billie is older then I am. Umm Bo is Shawn’s father so I am his Uncle. Billie and Bo dated, since they have no blood relations, but to people on the outside it seemed strange. So that’s my family tree in a nut shell.”
‘Oh my. Well at least your is interesting.”
“I guess. (Pause) I know you like Opera, since that is what you are studying, but what other kinds of music do you like?”
“Oh basically anything that has a good tune and beat. Anything that is easy to sing along with. I’ll listen to anybody from Avril Lavigne to Madam Butterfly. You?””Oh I like anything with a good tune. Do you have any pets?”
“Well not now. In Salem I had and I guess still have 2 dogs. Honey and Sugar. DO you have any pets?”
“Nope. Well none that can come into the house anyway. At my parents house, they have a stable so we have horses there. I love horses.”
“So do I. Do you smoke?”
“Nope.”
“Good. I don’t either.”
“Do you like to dance?”
“Yes I do.”
“Do you want to?”
“We have no music?”
“I can fix that.”

Philip went over to his car and turned on the radio. A love song was playing.

“May I have this dance?”
“Yes you may. I LOVE this song.”

Philip smiled and pulled Chloe into his arms. He couldn’t help but notice how great she felt in his arms. So soft and warm, and all her curves pressing into him. She felt AMAZING.

Chloe couldn’t help but notice how she felt so safe and secure in Philip’s arms. Like she belonged in them.

And I don’t wanna miss a thing…
